Welcome to St Patrick's RC Primary School.
My name is Sarah Marie Jones and I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Headteacher here at St. Patrick's RC Primary School. Having joined the school community nearly three years ago as Deputy Headteacher, it really is an honour and a dream come true to lead a school community that I am so inspired by and invested in. I am originally from the land of St. Patrick, Ireland, and so being the Headteacher of St. Patrick's RC Primary School means that this school community, here in Grangetown, is extremely close to my heart. A place that feels like home!
There is something special about all Catholic primary schools. Sometimes this can be difficult to put your finger on. For me it was about ‘Cenefyn’. Growing up Catholic, you draw on, and value your faith for a whole host of different reasons. Moving away from Ireland, the Catholic community has provided me with a feeling of belonging, built on shared values and a passion for passing on the faith.
I am extremely proud of what we achieve as a team at St. Patrick's everyday and I remain determined to ensure that our school successfully builds upon last year’s excellent Estyn inspection (June 2022). I can assure you that our school will continue to provide the best possible education, outcomes, spiritual development and experiences for your children. They are indeed our greatest asset, making our school such a wonderful place to teach, learn and achieve. Thank you for entrusting them to us. I look forward to working closely with you in nurturing your child's spiritual, moral, physical, and intellectual development in an environment centred on Catholic values.
St. Patrick’s RC Primary school has many strengths that must be celebrated and built upon. One of these strengths is the diversity of the community of Grangetown. We are a vibrant and growing multicultural school. An attribute that is reflected in the design of our curriculum. I have a vision for education at St. Patrick's that reflects what it means to grow up as a child in Grangetown, at this time, in today’s world.
You, the parents, are the first educators of your children. I look forward to hearing your views and ideas on how I can continue to best meet the needs of you, your children and the wider school community. I know that together we will come to realise our shared vision for St. Patrick's, based on our mission statement and virtues of faith, hope and love.
